Physical Books


At Monticello Brown Summit Elementary, the Media Center is an active place.  Students continuously come to check out books throughout the day.  Kindergarten students may choose one book.  First through fifth grades may choose two books.  Come check us out Monday - Friday 7:10am-2:00pm.

E-Books are a way to read on a computer or mobile device.  Click the button, below, to access MBSE's E-Book library.

Greensboro Public
Library


ALL GCS students can use their GCS Student ID Number (their lunch #) as a library card at any Greensboro Public Library. This gives students access to a much bigger selection of physical books and eBooks.  There are no late fees for students.

Below are instructions to access GPL eBooks online. 

  • Go to the Greensboro Public Library site.
  • Hover over the second tab "Books & Media". When a box drops down, click "Digital Downloads".
  • Click on the box that says "NC Kids Digital Library".
  • Wait 5 seconds (watch the countdown). You will be redirected to a new webpage.
  • In the top right-hand corner, press the button labeled "Sign In".
  • Choose "Greensboro Public Library". In the box labeled "Card Number" type GCS followed by your lunch number/student ID. ex.GCS12345678
  • Search by topic or book title by clicking on the magnifying glass.
  • When you find a book you want to read, check to see if it has a blue bar across the top that says "available". Then press "BORROW" below the book.
  • Press the "BORROW" button one more time.
  • Press the blue button labeled "Read Now in Browser". Your book will open in a new webpage.
  • To continue reading a book you've already checked out, go to "My Account" and then click "Loans".
